Using Technology to Help the Environment: The EARTHACK

Screen Shot 2017-04-19 at 9.28.58 PMHackathons bring together brilliant thinkers and technologists to solve problems. How can we take that innovative thinking and put it toward helping the environment?

An environmental hackathon. Or the EARTHACK.

EARTHACK is a product of HackDFW – “a tech enthusiast’s playground” – and the host of the largest hackathons in the state of Texas. Students and professionals come together to solve a problem – sometimes even on a global scale – and the results can surprise and enlighten.

The EARTHACK participants shouldn’t expect to sleep much – the hacking begins on Friday night April 21 at 11pm and doesn’t officially conclude until 1pm … on Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, participants gather with their team to learn and discuss, eat meals, and hear from tech experts. There may even be a little time for some yoga.

But when it’s all over on Sunday afternoon, the EARTHACK will turn innovative thinking into action, as winners are selected after all the environmental ideas are presented.

The EARTHACK is just one of the countless activities happening at Earth Day Texas 2017 – come and explore, FREE, in Fair Park, April 21-23!
