Exhibitor Spotlight: Center for Urban Sustainability Projects

cusp-logo

The Center for Urban Sustainability Projects’ (CUSP) main objective is to provide urban communities with the knowledge and training to create a reliable food source through the use of sustainable farming methods, such as urban and aquaponic farms. CUSP believes it is imperative that inner city youth is equipped with the skills and information to combat the realities of food scarcity. This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides individuals living within Washington, D.C.’s poorest communities an opportunity to grow healthy and sustainable food that would otherwise be hard to acquire.

As the wise proverb instructs, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” That is exactly what CUSP is doing with their educational program, ‘Tank to Table.’ Tank to Table informs urban communities about the benefits of farming fish, as well as, makes people more environmentally aware. Sustainable farming methods help prevent resource and food scarcity for this generation and many more to come.
