E-Capital Summit to Launch at Earth Day Texas
Investment professionals, service providers, incubators, accelerators, early- to mid-stage companies promote growth of transformational clean economy business models

For immediate release

DALLAS (March 14, 2017) – Earth Day Texas (EDTx) announces details and programming for the inaugural E-Capital Summit, to be held April 20-23 at Fair Park as part of Earth Day Texas, the world’s largest eco-conference and exposition.

This event will consist of investment forums, workshops for improved business management and fundraising practices, office hours where potential investors will meet with early-stage clean economy companies, as well as an Innovation Expo featuring exhibits from attendees. The E-Capital Summit is dedicated to growing the community of mission-driven investors in Texas and beyond.

“We’ve learned the current venture capital model doesn’t fit many early-stage clean technology companies,” said Matt Myers, vice president of operations & strategy, Earth Day Texas. “Our industry and economy needs new types of investors to take the lead: the mission-driven investor.”

“Between now and 2040, more than $15 trillion will need to be invested into clean technology to avert the worst effects of climate change,” says Earth Day Texas CEO Ryan A. Brown. “By creating new platforms and understanding about cutting-edge technology, innovations and sustainable business, we become leaders in conversations about conservation, environmental policy, education and the future of our planet.”

The E-Capital Summit encourages foundations, family offices, incubators, national laboratories and cutting-edge early-stage clean technology companies to form partnerships accelerating our future economy.

“The clean technology industry is a huge job creator,” says Myers. “In 2015, solar energy produced more jobs than oil and natural gas extraction for the first time and the clean technology industry employed more than 8 million people globally. The E-Capital Summit allows innovators and investors from around the country to engage, learn, network and create. It only takes one connection, one idea, one moment to change the world.”

E-Capital Summit is co-produced by PRIME Coalition, Austin Technology Incubators and Earth Day Texas. The E-Capital Summit Investment Forum is by invitation or application only. For information and deadlines, visit http://earthdaytx.org/ecapital/.
