Earth Day Texas Honored with Global Green’s Places Award at 14th Annual Pre-Oscar Gala
Earth Day Texas and Global Green to announce inaugural EARTHxGlobal Gala on April 21

Los Angeles, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2017) —Earth Day Texas CEO Ryan Brown will be honored as this year’s recipient of Global Green’s Places Award this evening at the Pre-Oscar Gala, the premier environmental event of Oscar Week in Hollywood. More than 250 celebrities, eco-luminaries, environmental companies, political leaders and headline press from around the world will attend the gala to celebrate sustainable solutions and hear from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and the world’s biggest environmental leaders.
Brown will be recognized for his leadership and advocacy on behalf of Earth Day Texas, founded by Trammell Crow, which is the largest annual environmental exhibition and programming initiative in the world on April 19-23 in Dallas, TX. This year, Earth Day Texas will bring together an estimated 150,000 attendees including 10,000 business leaders and 1,000 organizations from the environmental space consisting of community, business, policy, education and technology leaders to help foster innovation and create a greener future. Earth Day Texas will build bridges across aisles, sectors and communities to move the nation toward sustainable solutions.

In collaboration with Global Green, Earth Day Texas will present the inaugural EARTHxGlobal Gala on Friday, April 21st as an impactful fundraising gala to honor the amazing work in environmental education, film and television that our honorees have accomplished over the past decades. The event will include celebrity icons and experts in sustainability and conservation discussing the most important issues of today, along with an EARTHxFilms’s curated film series of award-winners and nominees playing throughout the Earth Day weekend.
Other honorees at Global Green Pre-Oscar Gala include David Archambault II, tribal chairman of the Standing Rock Siouix Tribe in North Dakota; Douglas Stoup, a polar adventurer and environmental educator; 4 Navitas / Siemens; and the Plastic Pollution Coalition.
There will be performances by Grammy Award-winner Estelle, Cody Simpson and Taylor Dayne. The event host committee includes Ed Begley, Jr., Orlando Bloom, Sebastian Copeland (co-founder of the event), California State Senate Pro Tem Kevin De León, Maggie Grace, Jesse Jackson, Lyn and Norman Lear, Ed O’Neill, Matt Petersen (event co-founder), Matt Walsh and Oliver Stone.
