Four-hour workshops to learn and explore opportunities for creating Tiny House buildings and communities
For immediate release
DALLAS (March 22, 2017) – Earth Day Texas (EDTx), in collaboration with the Tiny House Collaborative, announced workshops to learn and explore opportunities to create tiny houses and tiny house communities.
The workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on April 22-23, 2017 at Fair Park in Dallas will be hosted by Tiny House Collaborative members who have experience setting up tiny house communities and have worked with municipalities to address regulatory hurdles, legalization and community outreach.
“In this time of unprecedented economic growth in North Texas, housing is a critical driver in sustainability and quality of life,” says Earth Day Texas CEO Ryan A. Brown. “With the insight and experience of the Tiny House Collaborative, these workshops at Earth Day Texas 2017 will present fresh ideas and solutions to inspire builders of strong and resilient housing which is cost-effective, energy-efficient and attractive.”
Also featured at Earth Day Texas 2017 will be 12 tiny houses divided into two villages, eco-friendly and beautifully-designed homes for visitors to explore. Designed by professionals as well as student-teams representing Texas colleges and universities, tiny houses feature cost-effective materials, energy-efficient systems and architecturally attractive designs. Admission to Earth Day Texas is free and admission to the Tiny House villages is $5 per person (a wristband gains you admission to all the DIY houses).
“Tiny houses help raise awareness among environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government and the public about the critical importance, value and benefits of the built environment sustainability for Texas,” said B.A. Norrgard, founder of Tiny House Collaborative. “Commitment to the design and construction of sustainable and affordable tiny houses demonstrates prioritizing climate-responsive, sustainability-oriented design principles which serve the community today and in the future.”
The same Tiny House Collaborative workshops will be offered on Saturday, April 22 morning and again on Sunday, April 23. Topics include:
• How to form tiny house communities
• How to look for available land
